Permits and paperwork

Everything comes back to the transfer station at Fengate, over a calibrated weighbridge, and is sorted by hand and machine. These shares are last year's, by weight.

  • 41%

    Recycled as material

Wood to board manufacture, metal to the smelter, cardboard to the mill, inert crushed to aggregate.

  • 32%

    Refuse-derived fuel

What cannot be separated economically is baled and burned for energy rather than buried.

  • 21%

    Reused whole

Bricks, blocks, pallets, doors and fittings that come out of a skip in one piece.

  • 6%

    Landfill

The residue nothing else will take. We publish this figure because it is the one that matters.
