Compliance and permits

Your legal duty is to make sure your waste goes to someone licensed to take it. Here is what we hold, why it matters, and how to check it yourself.

  • Environmental permit

    Our transfer station operates under an environmental permit from the Environment Agency covering the types and quantities of waste we can accept, store and treat.

    It means the waste you hand us is going somewhere legal. Ask for the permit number and check it on the public register.

  • Waste carrier, broker and dealer registration

    Upper-tier registration, renewed every three years, for every vehicle that collects your waste.

    Using an unregistered carrier can leave you liable for fly-tipping fines. Our registration number is on every invoice.

  • Duty of care

    Every collection comes with a waste transfer note describing the waste, its EWC code and where it went. Annual notes for regular customers.

    The law requires you to keep these for two years. We keep copies too and can resend them at any time.

  • Hazardous waste consignment notes

    For paint, oils, solvents, fluorescent tubes and similar, a consignment note travels with the waste and a return goes to you within a month.

    Hazardous waste needs a paper trail from your premises to final disposal. We handle the notes and the returns.

  • Weighbridge and waste returns

    A calibrated weighbridge with quarterly returns to the Environment Agency on everything in and out.

    It is how we can tell you, truthfully, what proportion of your waste was recycled: 94% last year.

  • Insurance and safety

    Public liability £10 million, employers’ liability £10 million, drivers with CPC and skips lifted with certified chains.

    Certificates by email on request, usually the same day.

Check us yourself

The Environment Agency's public register lists every registered carrier and every permitted site. Search by our name or number. If a waste company cannot give you a number to check, do not use them.

What you receive

  • A waste transfer note for every skip, RoRo and bin contract
  • Consignment notes and returns for hazardous waste
  • An annual recycling report for account customers, by weight and material
  • Insurance certificates and permit copies on request
